Improved functionality on Taylor & Francis Online makes research more discoverable
2017-07-10

Academic publisher Taylor & Francis Group has announced several new updates to the Taylor & Francis Online journals platform. It is the first significant refresh to the platform since its relaunch in August 2016, with the Group continuing to incorporate customer feedback to improve the user experience for all.

Enhanced search options make it easier to find relevant articles and journals with the addition of an Advanced Search link on the main homepage, as well as on each individual journal and article page. Users can now enter a more specific set of search criteria, with options to filter by subject area, journal, and publication date.

Scholars will also find it easier to quickly identify the most significant research in their field, with article metrics now clearly displayed on journal contents pages and latest article pages.

These navigation enhancements will be supported by updates to the platform's user interface, which now fixes journal headers in place when users scroll through an article. All the key tools and links will remain accessible from any point on the page to offer readers a smoother, more responsive research experience on any device.

Taylor & Francis Group have also extended the addition of CrossRef's CrossMark to the Version of Record, with this functionality now on all published content. Designed to help readers locate the latest version of an article, as well as view its full publication history, CrossMark is a multi-publisher initiative which encourages the integrity and completeness of the scholarly record.

CrossMark will now be clearly displayed on the title page of every published article, allowing readers to access full publication record information at the click of a button. Users will be able to view any amendments, including corrections, updates and retractions, alongside CrossMark publication information.

Taylor & Francis Online is home to over 3.7 million journal articles published in over 2,500 journals.
