Nature Publishing announces three new Nature journals: Nature Energy, Nature Microbiology and Nature Reviews Materials
2015-05-22

Scientific publisher Nature Publishing Group has announced that three new titles will join the Nature family of journals in January 2016: Nature Energy, Nature Microbiology and Nature Reviews Materials. Nature Energy and Nature Microbiology are accepting submissions now.

Nature Energy will publish studies related to energy generation, storage and management. Inviting research from across the natural and social sciences, the journal will be a forum for all parties involved with energy, whatever their expertise, to come together and address the pressing questions of our time: Where do we source our energy from? How do we use it? Can we get enough?

Nature Microbiology will bring together both researchers and policy makers interested in learning about the most accomplished and notable advances in the field. The new journal will cover all aspects of microorganisms, from their evolution; physiology and cell biology; their interactions with each other, with a host or with an environment; and their societal significance.

In addition to original research, Nature Energy and Nature Microbiology will also publish commentaries, review articles, News and Views, and correspondence covering the many issues of interest to their respective communities.

Nature Reviews Materials builds on the success of Nature Materials (2013 Impact Factor 36.425). As the first Nature Reviews title in the physical sciences, the new journal adds to a current portfolio of 16 titles in the life and clinical sciences and will uphold the same exceptionally high editorial standards that have made those journals so successful.

Like all Nature-branded journals, Nature Energy, Nature Microbiology and Nature Reviews Materials will each be run by a dedicated team of professional editors who will ensure a fair and rigorous peer-review process, high standards of copy-editing and production, swift publication and editorial independence. The three new subscription journals join their wider portfolio, which includes 79 journals with an open access option. They expect to launch over 10 new open-access Nature Partner Journals in 2015 alone.
