Elsevier publishes six new plastics and polymers books
2017-09-06
Elsevier, the information analytics business specialising in science and health, has announced the publication of the second edition of Comprehensive Composite Materials II, edited by Carl H. Zweben and Peter Beaumont. This one-stop reference work spans the entire composites science field, covering topics such as fiber reinforcements and general theory of composites, polymer matrix composites, metal matrix composites, test methods, nondestructive evaluation and smart composites, design and application, and nanocomposites, multifunctional materials and smart materials. Elsevier also published five additional plastics and polymers books.

With 85 percent newly commissioned articles and updates to the remaining articles from the first edition, Comprehensive Composite Materials II, 2nd Edition, provides extensive coverage of new topics. There is a special focus on nanocomposites, including nanoscale reinforcements, such as single-wall and multi-wall nanotubes, graphene nanoplatelets, and nanodiamonds. The reference also addresses the development and application of the principles of multi-scale mechanics and physical model-based design methods and the incorporation of mechanisms of deformation and fracture into predictive design equations useful for the design engineer.

The six new plastics and polymers titles are:

  • Comprehensive Composite Materials II, 2nd Edition, edited by Carl H. Zweben and Peter Beaumont;
  • Shape-Memory Polymer Device Design by David L. Safranski and Jack C. Griffis;
  • Anticorrosive Rubber Lining: A Practical Guide for Plastics Engineers by Chellappa Chandrasekaran;
  • Film Properties of Plastics and Elastomers, Fourth Edition by Laurence W. McKeen;
  • Characterization and Analysis of Microplastics, edited by Teresa Rocha-Santos and Armando Duarte;
  • Polyurethane Polymers: Blends and Interpenetrating Polymer Networks, edited by Sabu Thomas, Janusz Datta, Jozef Haponiuk and Arunima Reghunadhan.
