On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the OSDW, Azymut will organize the Night of Bookshops. On 20 September, the first edition of the event will take place in several dozen bookstores throughout Poland, which - just like the Night of Museums - is to be permanently included in the calendar of nationwide cultural initiatives.
Night of Bookshops is a nationwide cultural event that will take place in at least several dozen stationary bookstores throughout the country. The first edition of the Night was scheduled for September 20 this year. The official program will be announced in the second half of August.
In addition to meetings with authors, literary events, competitions or concerts, the program will also include special attractions for the youngest readers and the opportunity to spend the whole night (from dusk to dawn) in the bookstore. Azymut's new activities are not only about popularizing reading, but also promoting independent stationary bookstores, which are grappling with increasing problems on the book market every year. According to the National Bookstore Database, only 57% of bookstores in Poland are points unrelated to any of the networks. As the organizers of the action, we would once again like to remind you of many unusual places that offer readers not only literature, but also many cultural initiatives.
The organization of the Nationwide Bookstores was co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund. More information about the project at www.nocksiegarn.pl and www.facebook.com/nocksiegarn.
