Construction of a multidisciplinary conceptual framework of environmental quality and quality of life is required to advance the field of urban development, environmental quality and human well-being. This document is a synthesis of environmental problems and issues emerging out of the studies on various preeminent practices in urban environmental management in cities. The document is cast in a synthesized framework so that wider issues of urban environment can become more discernible. The material also provides a broad framework on environmental strategies and action plans based on well documented case studies on best practices.
