It is presented as a hallucinatory account one man's experiences during a short stay in a remote house plagued by supernatural creatures and otherworldly dimensions. William Hope Hodgson (15 November 1877 - April 1918) was a prolific English author who produced a sizeable body of work, including short fiction, essays, and novels. His fiction covered multiple genres, including fantasy, horror, and science fiction. Other notable works by this author include: "The Ghost Pirates" (1909), "The Night Land" (1912), and "The Dream of X" (1912).
