Die neue Reihe bietet die Plattform für ein sich gerade im Bereich der Linguistik ausformendes neues Forschungsprogramm namens "Koloniale und Postkoloniale Linguistik". Die Inspiration für diese neue linguistische Teildisziplin stammt aus der Missionarslinguistik und der rezenten Diskussion über die Zusammenhänge zwischen Sprache, Linguistik und Kolonialismus. Die Zusammenführung dieser beiden Perspektiven zeichnet die "Koloniale und Postkoloniale Linguistik" besonders aus. KPL/CPL macht in erster Linie solche Texte der interessierten Öffentlichkeit (Linguisten, Historiker, Muttersprachler der Objektsprachen usw.) in kommentierter Form zugänglich, die über die Sprachen der ehemaligen europäischen Überseebesitzungen handeln und während der Kolonialepoche abgefasst wurden. Spezielles Augenmerk wird auf bisher unveröffentlichte oder heute nur schwer zugängliche Texte gelegt. In KPL/CPL werden außerdem Studien veröffentlicht, die der Frage nachgehen, inwiefern die kolonialzeitlichen linguistischen Texte den politischen und kulturellen Diskurs des Kolonialismus reflektieren. In der Reihe erscheinen sowohl Monographien als auch Sammelbände. Alle Manuskripte unterliegen einem Begutachtungsverfahren (double blind). Die bevorzugten Publikationssprachen sind Englisch und Deutsch. "Colonial and Postcolonial Linguistics". This new sub-discipline of linguistics is inspired by the work carried out within the framework of Missionary Linguistics and by the recent discussion about language, linguistics and colonialism. The integration of these two perspectives in one approach makes "Colonial and Postcolonial Linguistics" special. The new series specializes in the following research topics. KPL/CPL serves the purpose of making accessible to the interested public (linguists, historians, native speakers of the object languages, etc.) and commenting upon those texts the topic of which are languages of the former European possessions in overseas and which were written during the European colonial era. The focus is on hitherto unpublished manuscripts and texts which nowadays are hard to come by. KPL/CPL also investigate in what ways the cultural and political discourse of the (post-)colonial times is reflected in the contemporary linguistic contributions dedicated to the languages of the colonized peoples. The new series publishes monographs and collections of articles. All incoming manuscripts are peer-reviewed (double blind). The languages of publication are preferably English and German.
