Research on students' approaches to learning in
higher education has consistently demonstrated a
range of factors influencing students' approaches to
learning. Very little literature exists on how
postgraduate students in New Zealand experience and
perceive these influences. This book explores
factors that influence learning from interviews with
a range of postgraduate students in a New Zealand
university. Data were analysed within each case to
show that participant's uniqueness, as well as
across the cases to identify common themes pertinent
to postgraduate students in general. The findings
have significance for understanding and improving
the quality of learning of students at a
postgraduate level. This book should be especially
useful to lecturers in postgraduate programmes, and
others interested in the scholarship of teaching and
learning in higher education.
