Book description

The management of tropical sugarbeet root rot Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc through ecofriendly methods, the pathogen, management by using antagonists, organic amendments and induced systemic resistance. Sugarbeet dextrose media supported the maximum mycelial growth and sclerotial production of S. rolfsii. Trichoderma sp TVB1 isolate significantly recorded maximum reduction in mycelial growth, highest competitive saprophytic ability, best colonization behaviour, propagules lysis, speed over growth on pathogen, volatile and non volatile compounds production and highest inhibition of sclerotial germination. Maximum activity of peroxidase, polyphenols oxidase, phenylalanine ammonia lyase and phenolics both in leaf and tuber were identified in T.viride (TVB1) and P. fluorescens (SBHRPF2) treated plants along with pathogen. Combined application of neemcake @150 kg/ha with T.viride (TVB1) @ 2.5 kg/ha as basal and soil furrow application of recommended dose of organic biocides on 60th and 90th DAS showed less disease incidence and enhance desirable parameter. The Antifungal nature of T. viride and P. fluorescens treated plants as 43 kDa resistance protein idendified usefull mangement
