We note that most gender researchers in the Democratic Republic of Congo focus on the atrocities women suffer in the East of the country, particularly cases of sexual violence in war zones, forgetting other aspects that affect urban women, not being victims of war. Our choice focuses on urban women, especially those who give birth in Kinshasa maternity hospitals, in order to share with you what they experience during childbirth; this is pure violence that remains ignored until these days and that no woman has the courage to denounce. Having experienced this violence during my first childbirth experience, I decided to write this story to denounce certain practices in order to attract other researchers to pursue and, if necessary, deepen this issue so that our political and health leaders can take adequate measures in this area. The ordeal begins as soon as she arrives at the maternity ward. This story therefore presents an episode lived throughout our journey as primiparas. From the prenatal, natal, and postnatal period.
