Book description

This study sought to assess maintenance practices and quality improvement of public infrastructure. Adopting the National Theatre of Ghana as a case for in depth exploration, this research specifically examined maintenance practices of the National Theatre, the outcomes of these practices and the perspectives of staff about maintenance practices. The study involved the use of questionnaires and interview guide to obtain data from occupants and managers of the national theatre. It was found out that, maintenance practices such as cleaning, painting, fumigation and servicing are carried out at the National theatre. These are routine maintenance works that are supervised by the Estates Management department of theatre. There is also periodic maintenance which is undertaken quarterly and annually which are supervised by the Estates management department. In addition, the theatre also seldom undergoes major maintenance which is undertaken by the original Chinese construction consortium which constructed the edifice.
