Book description

Entamoeba histolytica (E. histolytica) is a protozoan parasite of the human digestive tract, specifically of the large intestine, considered as the only pathogenic species within the parasitic amoebae that affect the large intestine. As such, this protozoan is capable of originating in individuals from an asymptomatic carrier state to more or less severe chronic diarrheal processes and, rarely, an acute fulminant form of the disease. The best transmitters are asymptomatic persons who eliminate the parasite in their fecal matter. This form of amoebiasis is the most common. Spread occurs by: food handlers such as domestic servants or restaurant cooks, poor excreta disposal, irrigation of vegetables with contaminated water, flies and cockroaches. This research makes a detailed study on these and their consequences for humans.
