The theory of associative and nonassociative algebras has seen new impetuous developments in recent years. From physics, geometry and algebraic topology new nonassociative structures have appeared, such as superalgebras, coalgebras, pairs and triple systems. These structures proved to be interesting from a purely algebraic point of view; they produced innovative ideas and methods that have helped to solve some old algebraic problems. On the other hand, the theories of the main classes of nonassociative algebras, namely, alternative, Jordan and Malcev algebras, are far from completion, especially in the infinite dimensional case.
