The Royal Society of Chemistry unveils new open access journal for materials science
2020-02-06

The Royal Society of Chemistry has announced the launch of Materials Advances, sister to Journal of Materials Chemistry A, B and C. The new journal will be free to read and free to publish in for two years.

Materials Advances, which will be gold open access from launch, will publish high quality research across the breadth of materials science. The journal shares an editorial board with the Journal of Materials Chemistry journal family, enabling a consistent assessment process. This also enables smooth and speedy transfers between journals in the family, ensuring each piece of research can find the right home.

Article processing charges are waived until mid-2022. The joint Editors-in-Chief are Anders Hagfeldt, from EPFL in Switzerland, Jeroen Cornellisen, from the Universty of Twente in the Netherlands, and Natalie Stingelin from Georgia Institute of Technology, USA.

Published monthly, the journal will accept experimental or theoretical studies that report new understanding, applications, properties and synthesis of materials, building on and complementing the materials content already published across the Royal Society of Chemistry journal portfolio.
